The sunflower symbol helps to raise awareness of invisible disabilities and reinforces the expectation that everyone at DTU should show patience and consideration towards colleagues and fellow students – regardless of whether they wear the sunflower lanyard or not.  

Joining the Sunflower Programme is part of DTU’s overall work on diversity, equality, and inclusion. Camilla Rygaard-Hjalsted, Dean of Sustainability, Diversity, Inclusion and Talent Development says:   

“At DTU, we are dedicated to working on diversity, equality and inclusion. It is the right thing to do, and it is essential for a modern and ambitious university where we want to attract and retain talented students and staff,” continuing:  

“When we as a university join the Sunflower Programme, it is just one of the ways in which the university takes responsibility for strengthening inclusion and a sense of security in our study environments and communities. Everyone must have equal opportunities and equal access to contribute. This is the foundation of our success.”
