Cybersecurity is back on the agenda this October
What do deleting old files, staying alert to suspicious messages, choosing the right digital solutions and reporting security incidents promptly have in common? They are all good habits that help strengthen cybersecurity at DTU.
In October, DTU’s cybersecurity campaign returns with important messages on DTU Inside and your lock screen. This year, the campaign focuses on how our everyday actions can help protect DTU’s data and systems.
Four weeks, four cybersecurity habits
When you lock your computer in October, you'll see important messages each week about:
Data clean-up: Delete data you no longer need.
Fake messages (phishing): Stop and check unexpected or suspicious messages before taking action.
Software and downloads: Only use DTU-approved solutions.
Reporting: Report suspicious incidents and personal data breaches quickly, so DTU can respond and limit the consequences.
Why this campaign?
Digital threats do not only exploit technical vulnerabilities. They can also arise when a fake email tricks us into clicking, an unauthorized app gains access to DTU's data, or a suspicious incident is not reported in time.
In these instances, an extra check, a data clean-up, or a quick report can help protect DTU’s data and systems. Throughout October, you can find more information and practical advice on the four cybersecurity habits on DTU Inside.
Guide for Windows users: Proper Display of the Locked-Screen Campaign
Tip: Want to see the campaign right away? Press Windows + L to lock your screen.
To ensure the messages show up properly, follow these steps:
1. Restart your computer to activate the campaign.
2. Turn off news and widgets on the lock screen so the campaign isn’t covered. Go to: Settings → Personalization → Lock screen → Choose “Slideshow” or “Picture” instead of “Windows spotlight”.
3. Check your screen format: The campaign is designed for widescreen (16:9). If parts are cutt off, adjust your screen resolution under Settings → System → Display.
4. Extend screen display time: If the lock screen disappears quickly, change the timeout under Settings → System → Power & sleep.
Contact IT support if the campaign doesn’t show correctly or if you see a black screen.
