DTU Messages

IMPORTANT: You must change the password for your DTU account before Friday at 12:00 PM (email notification to employees and students)

All users of DTU’s IT systems must change their password. You must do so before Friday 9 October at 12:00 noon.

This measure is being taken in response to the recent cyberattack, as hackers may have gained access to encrypted files containing passwords. It is not considered to be an active threat to DTU, but this measure is part of DTU’s handling of the incident.

If you have not changed your password by Friday at 12:00 PM, AIT will reset it for security reasons.

If you have already changed your password after Friday 2 October, you do not need to change it again.

How to change the password for your DTU account

To change the password for your DTU account, follow the instructions available here.

Note: You will need MitID to change your password. If MitID is not an option, you can get assistance from IT Support.

If you have reused your DTU password on other services or accounts, we also recommend that you change it there.

AIT generally recommends that you use strong, unique passwords and keep them up to date. You can read more about how to create a strong password here.

Please note that it may take up to 20 minutes for the password change to take effect. AIT also recommends restarting the PC afterwards.

What happens if AIT has to reset your password?

If AIT has to reset your password, you will lose access to a number of DTU systems until you create a new password yourself. We therefore strongly recommend that you change your password before the deadline.

You will not receive a notification that your password has been reset. You will only become aware of it when you can no longer sign in to services that use your DTU account. This means that you will lose access to your DTU computer, as well as services such as Outlook, VPN, network access, and other DTU systems.

If AIT has reset your password, you must create a new one using a device that is not signed out, such as your mobile phone or a private computer.

To change the password for your DTU account, follow the instructions available here.

If you need assistance

If you are unable to change your password, or if you have forgotten it, please contact your DTU Base Administrator. You can find an overview of DTU Base Administrators here.

If you are a student, please contact the Student Administration Office for assistance.
