Overall goals and values of the study start

DTU aims for all new students to feel welcome in their new education and at DTU in general. Regardless of their background and prerequisites, all new students should experience inclusion and integration, both academically and socially. DTU's study start is designed to prepare students for their new student life at DTU and reduce dropout rates.

Therefore, the purpose of the study start at DTU is to:

  • Prepare students as best as possible for their studies and student life.
  • Create a framework for networking and building relationships.
  • Foster integration between academic environments and student life.
  • Ensure a safe and secure transition from being a pupil to being a student.

These objectives are based on values such as:

  • Community and inclusion.
  • High academic standards and responsibility.
  • Safety, mutual respect, and tolerance.

These objectives are achieved through the development of:

  • Self-efficacy (belief in one's abilities).
  • Sense of belonging (feeling of being in the right community).
