Why are delayed students offered study guidance?

Student Counselling at DTU is legally required to offer completion guidance to students who are delayed in their studies.

Completion guidance is a statutory requirement that applies to all universities, cf. the Danish University Act §9 and the Executive Order on University Programmes §39.
If you have been offered completion guidance, it is because, according to DTU’s study administrative system, you are delayed by 30 ECTS credits or more in your programme.

We make an effort to only reach out to students who are actually delayed (for example, we try not to include students whose delay is due to leave of absence, credit transfers, or changes of programme).

However, there can be many reasons why a student is delayed. Therefore, it is important to emphasize that completion guidance is a completely voluntary offer, which you can accept or ignore if it is not relevant to you.
