Danish Design Award 2025 is open for submissions
On April 3, 2025, the Danish Design Award opens for submissions. Among last year’s winners were mushroom-based asphalt and an innovative breastfeeding solution, both of which are already making a positive impact on the world
Design has the potential to solve complex problems, and that’s exactly what we need in a time where waste of resources and overproduction threaten our planet, while economic uncertainty, health issues, and political turmoil create fear for the future.
In Denmark, we take pride in our long-standing design tradition, which combines aesthetics, function, and craftsmanship with strong democratic values. The Danish Design Award 2024 proved we still have plenty to be proud of.
Among the winners was the caramma-support bottle, with its simple yet groundbreaking design that allows anyone to breastfeed. Since winning the award, they’ve been busy making daily life easier for many.
“Winning the Danish Design Award gave us a validating boost that has been invaluable in launching the caramma-support bottle. We’ve put ‘Winner of Danish Design Award’ on all our products, which has strengthened sales and opened doors to beautiful stores both at home and abroad. Since we won the award, we’ve had media coverage in several magazines and appeared on Go’ morgen Danmark to talk about our design. We’re still very excited about this prestigious award,” says Rie Maktabi, designer and co-founder of caramma.
Caramma isn’t the only one riding a wave of success after the Danish Design Award. The winner of the Young Ideas award, Visibuilt, has connected with key partners thanks to their innovative solution, visiBIT, which can shape the roads of the future with mushroom-based asphalt.
“Winning the Young Ideas Award at Danish Design Award is a huge recognition of our work on fossil-free binders for the asphalt industry. The design award has opened doors to landscape architects and contractors looking for sustainable materials, highlighting visiBIT’s potential. It shows how much momentum the Danish Design Award has helped create. We’re proud that a biotech company like ours is being recognized for design thinking, and that Danish Design Award is challenging the definition of great design,” says Line Kloster Pedersen, CEO and founder of Visibuilt.
We hope that the Danish Design Award can be a stepping stone for even more designers to make a positive difference through design. Maybe your design is exactly what the world needs?
