DTU Messages

IMPORTANT: Ongoing phishing attack

DTU is currently experiencing a phishing attack in which cybercriminals are attempting to lure money from students and employees at DTU.

There are phishing emails in circulation that are sent from DTU email accounts.

In the subject line it says “Technical University of Denmark”, “Danmarks Tekniske Universitet”, “Technical University of Denmark Specials”, or “Exclusive Technical University of Denmark Offer”. It is claimed that a person wishes to give away her deceased husband’s “gadgets” to students at DTU.

In addition, a file‑sharing email is in circulation, through which the attacker can gain access to one’s mailbox and forward fiel-sharing emails to one’s contacts.

It is therefore important that you do not react to these emails – despite the fact that the sender is a known contact.

NOTE: If you have responded to phishing emails

If, for example, you have clicked on links, entered a password, or similar, you must follow these steps. It is important that you do so in this order to avoid access problems due to synchronization delays:

  1. Log out of all devices on your Microsoft account
    • Go to: My Sign-Ins | Security Info | Microsoft.com
    • Click on “Log out everywhere / Sign out everywhere”. This immediately stops any potential unauthorized access.
  2. Change your password
    • Go to: https://password.dtu.dk. Change your password here. This ensures that your login is synchronized correctly between DTU and Microsoft.
  3. Report the incident in the Service Portal
Report Spam or Phishing: Ivanti Service Manager
  4. Report the email in Outlook
    • Right-click on the email and select “Report” in the drop-down menu.

DTU’s IT department has handled all known affected accounts and is working to contain the attack.
