Publishing: Identify the best journal match for your research with Cabells journal finder

- introducing the new tool

The tool, Cabells CompassAI, helps you identify journals to publish within.

With Cabells CompassAI, researchers can:

  • quickly identify journals that match your research focus.
  • check credibility and compliance with publishing standards.
  • save time and publish with confidence.

How the tool works

Upload or paste your abstract into Cabells CompassAI. The system analyses the content and compares it against Cabells Journalytics database to suggest verified, reputable journals that fit the scope of the submitted work. You get categorized recommendations with explanations and practical tags.

DTU Library’s introduction of this tool aims to support researchers in navigating an increasingly complex publishing landscape—helping them publish both efficiently and confidently.

Several publishers offer a similar service, but the Cabells tool is independent.

What happens with your abstract

According to Cabells Policy the system analyses your submitted abstracts, but your research content is not stored after processing, Cabells don't keep copies, and your content is not used to train AI models or for any other purposes.

What is Cabells list?

Cabells maintains two comprehensive databases:

  • Journalytics: A vetted directory of reputable academic journals across disciplines.
  • Predatory Reports: A database of journals flagged for deceptive practices, lack of transparency, or unethical publishing standards.

Each journal is evaluated against over 60 criteria, ensuring that researchers can make informed decisions based on rigorous, transparent assessments.

How to access Cabells list

DTU Library provides access to Cabells through DTU Findit:
