If you wish to begin your your Bachelor of Engineering project before fulfilling all prerequisites, you must apply for an exemption. You can read more about the application requirements at student.dtu.dk

From 1 February 2026, the Exemption Board for BEng programmes (DMDU) will handle these applications. Previously, the head of study for the individual study programme could grant exemptions, but this responsibility has now been transferred to DMDU.

This change means that the processing of exemption applications for starting a Bachelor of Engineering project before all prerequisites are met will now follow the same principles as for bachelor’s and master’s students. Similar cases are already handled by the CMDU Exemption Board.
