Internships and project collaboration
At the Career Center, we are happy to help you apply for an internship and project collaboration with a company. Such collaboration gives you the network and experience that the companies request. It is, therefore, most often the best way to a relevant student job or your first job.
Find relevant companies
Applying for an internship is often as demanding as applying for a job, so starting well in advance is a good idea. It is necessary to apply to several companies to be sure that you are offered an internship, and it is important to target your job search material to each company.
In the DTU Career Hub, you can find companies that are interested in collaborating with students, whether it is an internship or a project collaboration.
In addition, we encourage you to apply unsolicited (Read more under Targeted applications). You can, for example, find relevant companies on Jobindex.dk (and find contact persons via previous job postings in the archive function), in the DTU Career Hub and LinkedIn.
Help with the application process
Do you want to write relevant and interesting CVs and applications when applying for an internship? Then there is plenty of help to get at DTU Career Center. We have gathered the most important tips for writing CVs and applications in our online course Engineer Your Career on LEARN. We would encourage you to read the DTU Career Notebook, which you will find in the course, where you can find lots of inspiration for writing your CV and your application.
DTU Career Center also offers several short evening workshops on how to write a CV and cover letters targeted BEng students who are doing an internship. Find all upcoming dates in the calendar in Engineer Your Career on LEARN.
Finally, you can get feedback on your CV and cover letter by using our drop-in service or booking a feedback session. This way, you can ensure that your material is targeted and your internship search becomes more effective. See your options here.
Internship schedule
To help you get the most out of your internship and make the application process easier, we have prepared two internship forms. Here, you will find good advice and relevant exercises which can help you consider and formulate what you can do, what you want and what goals you have for your internship. The material is divided into two working documents:
Internship form 1, which you should work with before you do an internship. The exercises give you an overview of your skills and what you want to do during your internship, and you can more or less transfer your answers directly to your CV, your application and a possible interview.
In Internship Form 2, you evaluate your efforts and what you have learned during the internship. It is mandatory to complete and submit Form 2 to your internship supervisor together with the internship report.
Internship abroad
Also, remember that you can combine your internship with a stay abroad and, in that way, gain international experience and an experience beyond the usual. Read more about internships abroad.
Help with the contract
If you have any questions regarding the contract and other formalities, please contact your internship coordinator.
