Lyngby Campus: Notification – Completion of DTU's preparatory light rail works
As everyone can see, tracks have now been laid and overhead line poles established for the upcoming light rail. In addition, Greater Copenhagen Light Rail still needs to install overhead wires, establish grass tracks, and set up signal control at intersections.
This means that the Greater Copenhagen Light Rail has progressed to a point where DTU’s preparatory works are nearing completion. A number of connection projects will now be carried out to ensure that the landscape adjacent to the light rail is both functional and visually appealing.
We have already begun closing the quadrant road connections to Anker Engelunds Vej, where Knuth-Winterfeldts Allé and Henrik Dams Allé are partially closed.
Next, the connections at Asmussens Allé and Koppels Allé will be completed.
In addition to the connections to Anker Engelunds Vej, changes will also occur at the following locations:
-
The end of Elektrovej at Asmussens Allé will be reconstructed, and access to the eastern part of Building 322 will be modified.
-
Pavement changes at the transition from Asmussens Allé to Akademivej.
-
Changes on Akademivej, including temporary closures using concrete barriers.
-
Modifications to the southern part of Parkeringsalléen near Akademivej.
-
Modifications to the southern part of Koppels Allé near Akademivej.
-
Changes to Vagn Aa. Jeppesens Vej at the crossing with Koppels Allé to improve safety for cyclists and pedestrians.
-
Installation of bicycle parking near Building 101.
-
Installation of bicycle parking between Buildings 450 and 451 (this will be carried out in spring/summer 2026 after the renovation of Building 451 is completed).
Most of the work will take place during summer 2025 and is expected to be completed before the start of the autumn semester (except for the bicycle parking between Buildings 450 and 451).
It is expected that most of the work can be carried out without significant inconvenience to DTU employees, students, or visitors, as the aim is to maintain existing access routes, which may be temporarily redirected.
In addition to DTU’s own completion works related to the light rail, there will be periods of traffic diversions when Greater Copenhagen Light Rail installs overhead wires at intersections. Detour signs will be set up in those cases.
