New rules for transferring to the MSc programme in 2025/2026
In the academic year 2024/2025, DTU announced a change to the rules regarding transition rules, effective from 2025/2026. The requirement has been adjusted so that students who are missing up to 25 ECTS credits in their BEng or BSc programme at DTU may apply to take up to 30 ECTS credits of master’s level courses. Further background for this decision is described in study announcement s1895 regarding DTU’s significant rule changes for 2024/2025.
The rule is outlined in DTU’s study regulations on Transferring to MSc programme (transitional semester) - https://student.dtu.dk/en/rules/transferring-to-msc-programme
Use of Calculators in Written Exams Without Permitted Aids
The wording in DTU’s exam regulations regarding the use of a “non-programmable calculator” in written exams where no aids are allowed is outdated. From the academic year 2025/2026, the use of calculators in such exams will only be permitted if specified in the course description. If calculators are allowed, it will be up to the course coordinator to define which models may be used.

New Permission for Written Online Exams Outside DTU Campuses for Students Enrolled in a Digital Programme
It will be added to the study rules that students enrolled in one of DTU’s digital programmes may apply to take online written exams at locations other than DTU – both in Denmark and abroad. Students already enrolled in DTU’s digital programmes will receive separate information and guidance about this new initiative.

Credit Transfer Rules for BEng Students
DTU’s credit transfer rules lack a description of the rules and procedures for courses transferred to the elective group in the BEng programme. It will therefore be added that these courses must be pre-approved by the head of studies to ensure relevance to the study programme, chosen specialization, and potential overlap with mandatory courses.
The rule is outlined in DTU’s credit transfer regulations under Credit Transfer and Study Abroad – Credit Transfer During the Study Programme - https://student.dtu.dk/en/rules/credit-transfer-studying-abroad/credit-transfer-during-the-study-programme
Exemption for Starting the BEng Final Project
The Heads of studies in the BEng programme will now have the authority to decide whether a student may begin their bachelor project before meeting all requirements. Previously, this authority rested with the BEng Programme’s Exemption Committee (DMDU). The rule has been adjusted in the individual curricula for all BEng specializations and in DTU’s exemption regulations.
The rule is outlined in DTU’s exemption regulations under Starting Final Projects Before Meeting the Requirements - https://student.dtu.dk/en/rules/exemption/starting-final-projects and in the curricula for the BEng programme (only in Danish) - https://student.dtu.dk/studieordninger/diplomingenioer
