Commencement of engineering internship before all prerequisites are met and exemption from the engineering internship

If you wish to start your Bachelor of Engineering internship before meeting the prerequisites, you must apply for an exemption. In your application, you must explain why the internship cannot be postponed until you have met the prerequisites for starting it. Wherever possible, you should attach documentation regarding the circumstances described in your application, as well as a study plan for the remainder of your studies.

What to upload with your dispensation application
When applying for an exemption to start your Bachelor of Engineering internship before meeting the prerequisites, you must upload a statement from your Head of Study providing an academic justification.

Your Head of Study must explain why it is considered academically sound for you to begin the internship before meeting the prerequisites. Your Head of Studies must also explain why the start of the internship cannot wait until you have met the prerequisites.

In their assessment, your Head of Study must also address the fact that you can complete the remainder of your programme after the internship concludes.
