Creating spaces and experiences

Roskilde Festival is a lot more than just a music festival. There are plenty of events happening throughout the week for festival guests of all ages. As DTU students, you have a strong background in scientific topics that can be used to engage and entertain.

A subtle way of entertainment is through the creation of closed or open spaces. They can serve as a getaway from the hectic festival atmosphere, which can be overwhelming over seven days.

Focus suggestions are:

  • Space creation (e.g., soundproof box, shade from the sun/cover from rain) such as MellowPod from last year (see upper image to the left)
  • Art installations (using lights, sound, materials, etc.) such as an interactive light wall (see upper image to the right)
  • Flexible furniture that can be moved to different locations on the festival grounds depending on demand. Ideally made through upcycling.

Different projects falling into the category above have been done in the past years. These can be used as inspiration for new projects or further development of past projects.
