In the academic year 2025/2026, we announced expected changes to DTU’s exam rules for the 2026/2027 academic year. A major revision of the exam rules has been postponed and will instead be coordinated with DTU’s work on examination formats.

Only a limited number of changes have been made to the study rules this year. However, several wording adjustments have been implemented throughout the study rules to make communication about DTU’s rules and procedures more user-friendly. These revisions are not described in this notice but can be viewed at: https://student.dtu.dk/studieregler

1. Exemption to begin the internship in the Bachelor of Engineering programme

From now on, exemptions allowing students in the Bachelor of Engineering (BEng.) programme to commence their internship before all prerequisites have been fulfilled will be granted by the Exemption Committee for the BEng. programme. Consequently, you must apply to the committee if you wish to obtain an exemption for commencing the internship or an exemption from the internship requirement.

2.      Guest students’ access to courses

It is no longer described in the study rules that an instructor can exclude a guest student from a course on the grounds of insufficient academic qualifications or language proficiency. Once you have been admitted to a course as a guest student, exclusion may only take place in cases involving violations of DTU’s disciplinary rules.

3.      New practice for allowing a quick re-exam

DTU tillader at du som studerende kan søge om en hurtig reeksamen, hvis du enten er syg eller ikke består den sidste afsluttende eksamen i den eksamenstermin, hvor din uddannelse skulle være afsluttet. Reglerne for hurtig reeksamen er ikke ændret, men formuleringen er præciseret, så det er tydeligt, hvornår der er mulighed for at få godkendt en hurtig reeksamen, herunder hvad betingelserne er.

DTU allows students to apply for a quick re-exam if they are unable to attend the final examination required to complete their study programme due to illness or if they fail the exam during the examination period that concludes the study programme. The rules governing quick re-examinations have not changed; however, the wording has been clarified to make it clearer when a quick re-exam may be approved and which conditions must be met.

4.      Information: new placement of admission and credit transfer regulations

Information regarding programme changes, as well as information on re-admission and re-enrolment, is now available exclusively on www.dtu.dk under “How to apply”: https://www.dtu.dk/english/education

Information on deadlines, previously completed courses, and examination attempts used for credit transfer from prior education, which was previously included in the DTU study rules, has now been added to the relevant pages on www.dtu.dk. During autumn 2026, all admission pages for DTU’s degree programmes will be revised to provide students and applicants with a more consistent communication experience.
