Why are delayed students offered study guidance?

The Study Guidance at DTU has a legal obligation to offer additional guidance to students who are delayed in their studies.

All universities are required to offer study guidance for delayed students, see section 9 of the Danish University Act (Universitetsloven) and the Danish Ministerial Order on Bachelor and Master's (Candidatus) Programmes at Universities (Uddannelsesbekendtgørelsen).

The reason why you are being offered implementation guidance is that—according to DTU’s study administration system—you are delayed in your studies:

  • Students who are 30-59 ECTS credits behind on their prescribed study plan are offered to participate in the info meeting for students who are delayed in their studies.
  • Students who are 60 ECTS credits or more behind on their prescribed study plan are offered a completion interview.

We aim only to invite students who are actually delayed (for example, we do not select students who are delayed due to leave, credit transfer decisions or change of study programme).

However, there may be many reasons why students are delayed in their studies, and it is therefore important that you are aware that study guidance for delayed students is an entirely voluntary offer which you can accept or ignore if it is not relevant for you.

And if you need guidance at any other time, you are of course always welcome to contact the Study Guidance.
