Study activity requirements and deadlines

Learn more about the requirements for your study activity and how long it can take you to complete your programme.

All study programmes at DTU have a maximum period of study and a study activity requirement.

The maximum period of study limits the amount of time you can spend on completing your programme. The study activity requirement is a requirement for how many ECTS credits you must pass each year.

It is important that you familiarise yourself with the requirements and deadlines that apply to you. If you do not meet the study activity requirement, you cannot continue on your programme, and if you do not meet the maximum period of study, you will be discharged from your programme.

General rules on maximum period of study and study activity requirements apply to Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Engineering and Master of Science in Engineering programmes.

See which study activity requirement and deadlines apply to your specific study programme in your programme specification.

If you do not meet the study activity requirement or the maximum period of study

You can apply for an exemption from the study activity requirement and the maximum period of study. Please note that exemptions are only granted in special circumstances.

If you are six months to a year late, you will receive an offer from the Study Guidance to provide guidance and help you make a plan to finish your studies.
