The Study Administration

There is one single Study Administration at DTU. The Study Administration has offices at both Lyngby Campus and Ballerup Campus. As a rule, you should contact the office where you have your primary campus.

The Study Administration primarily handles the administrative, registerable aspects of your studies, while guidance on rules and processes is handled by the Study Guidance.

You can contact the Study Administration by phone, email, or in person, but before contacting us, we encourage you to read through our FAQ, as you will most likely find the answer to your question there.

Questions regarding SU – including the Youth Card – should be directed to the SU Office.

If you have questions regarding credit transfer from an educational institution outside DTU, you should contact the Credit Transfer Office at this email: merit@adm.dtu.dk.

Before contacting the Study Administration, we encourage you to try to find the answer to your question either via the search function on this page or by looking in this FAQ:

Admission

If you have applied for admission to a programme and have questions about the application process, rules, etc., you should contact the BSc/BEng Admissions Office at optagelse@adm.dtu.dk or the MSc Admissions Office at kandidatopt@adm.dtu.dk. International students must contact mscadmissions@adm.dtu.dk.

As a rule, PhD students must contact phdcourses@dtu.dk.

Study start and teaching

The Learn groups are managed by the course responsible(s). They publish their respective Learn groups when they are ready, and you may therefore experience being enrolled in a course where the course responsible has not yet published the Learn group, and therefore you cannot see it.

If you have questions about access to your Learn group, you should contact the course responsible.

Course enrollment

If your enrollment has been rejected, you will appear in our administrative system. After the enrollment deadline has passed, we will review all rejected enrollments to get them approved. The vast majority of students who have had a course enrollment rejected will therefore experience that within a few days after the enrollment deadline, they are enrolled in their course.

If you are still not enrolled in your course five days after the enrollment deadline, we encourage you to email us at studadm@adm.dtu.dk.

It is common for registrations for courses and exams to be rejected. There may be many different reasons, but most often it is due to the following:

  • You have too many ECTS credits in the group to which the course or exam belongs.
  • The course is not part of your curriculum, so you need approval from your Head of Studies before you can be registered – you must contact your Head of Studies to ask whether the course can be approved. If possible, you must forward the written approval to the Study Administration.
  • You have an old course registration that occupies ECTS credits. For example, if you have withdrawn from an exam in a course you ultimately do not wish to take, you must email the Study Administration at studadm@adm.dtu.dk.
  • You have a pre-approved credit transfer registered that has reserved ECTS credits. In that case, you must email the Credit Transfer Office at merit@adm.dtu.dk.
  • You have used an exam attempt in an identical course and are now trying to register for another version (e.g. 01035/01037). In that case, you must contact the Study Administration.
  • You have a registration for a discontinued course. In that case, you must contact the Study Administration.
  • You have used all exam attempts in a course and must apply for an exemption for additional attempts. That may occur, for example, if the course is identical to another course in which you have already used attempts (e.g. 26020, 26021 and 26022).

If you need an overview of all your courses and which groups they belong to, you can find it at campusnet.dtu.dk.

If you want to know which courses are part of your curriculum, you can find them at inside.dtu.dk (remember to look under the curriculum for the year you were admitted).

If you need further guidance on how to enroll in courses, you should contact the Study Guidance Office.
