If you have a hearing impairment
There is a significant difference in the challenges faced by individuals with visual impairment; therefore, suitable solutions for student life can often vary.
As a student with a hearing impairment, in addition to the more obvious challenges, you may also experience difficulties with:
- concentrating while studying
- endurance
- structuring and planning your study course.
Types of support for students with hearing impairments
As a student with a hearing impairment, you may be eligible for various forms of support:
- Clarification of support needs by a hearing specialist
This assessment focuses on identifying how you can best be compensated for your hearing impairment in an academic context. - Assessment of assistive hearing devices
The assessment may recommend technical aids such as a microphone link system or a hearing loop system. - Secretary assistance
Help with taking notes during lectures and exercises. - Academic support teacher
Usually a lecturer from your study program. These sessions can be used to review academic content and develop learning strategies tailored to your needs.
Types of support for deaf students
As a deaf student, you may be eligible for various forms of support:
- Assessment and clarification of support needs
During a consultation with a specialist, you will determine the type of support that best meets your needs. Based on the consultation, one or more types of support may be recommended, for example, interpreter assistance, which can include sign language interpretation and notetaking during lectures. - Academic support teacher
Usually a lecturer from your study program. These sessions can be used to review academic content and develop learning strategies tailored to your needs

- Additional furniture
If you use a sign language interpreter and therefore require extra chairs and/or tables in the classroom, please contact the SPS Office. We will assist in coordinating with Campus Service to ensure your needs are met. - Installation of technical equipment
This is handled by the supplier, Tonax, sometimes in collaboration with Campus Service and/or involving the lecturer and fellow students.
